2007-2020 | 18 cm x 24 cm / 29,7 cm x 40 cm
oil on canvas, sanded / glue, pigment dust, varnish
New paintings are created by the destruction of a work I made in 2007 for my Art School application. I sand the surface of the old painting, the pigment dust falls on a new canvas lying underneath, which I primed with glue. As the disappearing painting trickles down, two new paintings are created, which contain all the information of the old painting, but in a different, now shared appearance. The figurative literally dissolves into dust and is fixed in an abstract pigment formation.
